Since I Closed My Eyes,
And Looked Around For You.
But I Still Ask Myself,
How Did I Get So Lucky,
As I Write Into Another Book
And Set It On The Bookshelf.
I Still Have You There,
At My Bar,
Always In The Spotlight,
Watching From Afar.
And When I Go To King Happy's Library, I'm Always Stopped In My Tracks,
Oh Lookie Here, The Silliest Of Geese,
Asking For My Library Card,
But This Time I Have No Keys.
I Just Want To Say Hello To Dona In That Messy Room,
But Instead I Find You Sitting There,
Guarding His Gloom.
"Oh, Snappadoodle?" You Ask,
But I Am Afraid That's Not My Task.
You're Still Wearing The Crown Z Made You,
With Jewels And Pencil Marks,
And Its Tiny Blue Hearts.
The Halls Now A Garden As I Step Out The Door,
Burning Hot Pavement Under My Feet,
This Ain't No Concrete Jungle Street.
And As I Follow It Down To The Basement,
Stairs Never-Ending,
I Know Where I Am Headed,
To My Brother's Lamenting.
This Dark, Obscure Land,
Fog Around It, Trouble At Hand,
Once A Volcano,
Now A Tomb,
I Can Smell The Fumes.
I Ask For Roman,
Even Shout, "Hades!"
And When I Plead For Anubis,
The Dream King Steps Forward,
Followed By Multiple Ladies,
All Rotten Daisies,
And They All Respond In Unison,
He's Got More Versions Of You, Hon.
One Wears Your Llama PJ Pants,
Another Carries A Vest With Pins And Buttons,
The Third Looks At Me With Hollowed Eyes,
The Smoke Turning Into Tears,
The Fourth One Wears A Black Crown,
And The Fifth One Wears Your Special Frown,
But The Sixth One Holds A Tiny Flower In Her Hand,
That Laughs Just Like Her Momma And Says, "Damn."
Now It All Melts Like Lava,
And I Find Myself Outside The Doctor's Office,
But All I Remember Is Head Trauma.
As I Knock On His Door,
A Pounding In My Head Increases,
So I Stop And Scream In Pain,
Wishing It Ceases.
The Door Opens, But I Don't See The Fixer,
Just A Leather-Wearing Harley Holding An Elixir.
"Drink?" You Offer,
And I Know I Have No Choice,
That's An Order.
So I Take A Glass,
Smell The Wine,
Take A Sip,
And It Tastes Fine.
I Notice,
Someone Spiked My Drink--
Hypnosis.
And I Awake From A Fever Dream,
Only To Find Myself In Theater,
With A Thousand Eyes Around Me,
All Eager.
And The Play Begins,
And I Wonder,
Is This A Comedy?
Or A Tragedy?
Only To Be Assured It's Both,
By Shakespeare And Poe,
Twins Of Destruction,
Sitting Behind Me In The Above Row.
"Here She Comes, Our Fair Maiden,"
Says He,
"Oh But Don't Forget She's The Star,"
"Oh For Thee!"
When The Curtains Roll,
They Always Keep A Piece Of Your Soul,
Something To Keep The Maiden Alive,
In Order To Keep The Show Going, To Thrive.
So You Take The Exit Door,
Follow The Sign,
As You Enter A Beach,
Surrounded By Sand.
But This Sand Is Different,
It's Covered In Treasures,
Something Magnificent.
But No Matter How Many You Unearth,
You'll Never Please La Reina,
For The Only Treasure She Wants Is His Heart.
She Sits On A Throne Of Sand And Coffee,
As She Examines Your Body.
But If You Try To Touch Her,
She'll Vanish,
Turn To Dust,
And Disappear Below Your Feet,
As All You Have Left Is That Coffee Aroma,
So Sweet.
Then You Realize You're Inside An Hourglass,
As Fitting As Time,
Always So Compact,
Yet Never Enough.
You Sink Into It And Come Out The Other Side,
You Find The Pyramids Where It Hides.
This Is A Sacred Place,
Do Not Disturb,
But I Do What I Want,
And Even When I Can't.
I Look For Him But Nowhere To Be,
Where Is That Pasty Bastard,
I Ask In Frustration, You See?
Welcome To Seker's Temple,
But Something Is Wrong,
He Is Nowhere To Be Found,
Perhaps I Will Sing Along.
"I Loved, And I Loved, And I Lost You..."
Nothing?
"...And It Hurts Like Hell..."
Oh Well.
But Suddenly I Am Caught Off-Guard,
I Fall To The Floor, Flat,
I Hit It Hard.
Sekhmet Appears Over Me,
"You're Not Welcome Here."
I Was Just Leaving, Dear.
She Turns A Lever Down,
And I Fall Through A Hole In The Ground,
I End Up In Osiris' Underpass,
Which Takes Me To Pharaoh's Temple,
But He's Nowhere To Be Seen,
This Is Obscene.
Just The Queen Sits There,
Watching Me With Disdain,
I See I Bring Her Nothing But Pain.
So I Exit The Pyramids And Enter The Jungle,
Do I Find Rojo,
Or Will He Find Me First?
Good Thing I Already See Red,
Or Perhaps I'd Be Tore To Shreds.
Here She Comes,
The Goddess,
Setting Everything Aflame,
But I See No Rojo Beside Her,
That Is A Shame.
So I Stay Out Of Her Way,
And Know Who To Visit Next.
I Enter The Labyrinth,
But I See No Man Nor Beast,
Just A Green Table With A Big Feast.
There Are Remains Of Ruin,
A Battle Ensued,
But No Clues Left,
Nor Breadcrumbs To Follow,
Now This Hall Is Hollow.
But There Is One Last Room To Visit,
Wish I Could Recall What It Is,
I Only Have One Clue,
In The Shape Of An Ankh,
Something Dark,
And Black.
Then She Appears Before Me,
To Guide Me Back.
I Exit The Aether And Enter Reality,
This World, This Vessel,
If It Means I Get To See You,
I'll Wear My Favorite Person-Suit.
Waking Is Like Leaving The ICU,
After A Crash Or A Concussion,
Noise And Screams With No Room For Intrusion.
But Knowing You're Out Here,
Even For A Short Moment, Dear,
You Disperse The Clouds In My Thoughts,
And I Don't Feel Lost.
So I Dedicate This Song To You,
Press Play Below,
And Maybe One Day,
You'll See Yourself,
As I See You.
