Ritual
What separates us from the animals?
We can talk about evolution and look back at how the transformation of human beings over time has paved the way for new ideas and theories on how despite carrying the same genes and traits as our predecessors, we have managed to create new life with new hopes and dramatically changed how society works and looks in the eyes of our future generations.
But that is not why I've created this page, no. Sure, evolution has always peaked my interest, but what interests me the most is the fact that despite being civilized, we are not too far from embracing our animalistic nature.
Embracing that raw nature--that violence.
You can look at it in a simple example: you are driving on the road and someone cuts you off, next thing you see is yourself screaming in the rear-view mirror. You are no longer human. You are yelling profanities, a vein has formed in your temple, and as you wave your fist in the air and proceed to flip the person in front of you the bird, to an outsider, you would almost seem like a caveman. A wild, feral beast with no control whatsoever on your emotions.
You are an animal.
You are raw. You are unchained, letting loose with uncontrollable urges flowing through your entire body.
You could drive up to the side of that driver and push him off the road. You could hurt him at the next stop light. There are many scenarios. You could do them all. But you choose not to.
We all have a ritual we follow when we fall under stress, when we are pushed to our limits. Some choose to breathe, some choose to count to ten, others might even go punch a wall to get rid of the urge to kill. To hurt. To maim.
I choose to partake in the ritual every morning before the day actually starts. It is a promise to myself that I have made since years ago in order to control those urges.
I do it before the day begins with the simple fact in mind: I am doing this in order to let loose in a safe environment, and then feel at peace within myself to tackle the day forward.
This is my control.
This is my ritual.

Set
Skin, feel tight, take apart
Loosen--freeing
As in the beginning
So will be in the end
Layers out
alone at last
Just
Me and You
Together Alone
Touch
Feel
Fill Me
Let it Out
Roar
Embrace Me
Tear Out
That Beast
Crawling Inside
Caress To
The Touch
As Tracing
A Work of Art
Paint It Red
Until It Washes
Away
Free At Last
