Knowledge Borrowed, Knowledge Shared

You know sometimes it's hard to explain certain things to people, mostly, because you do not know how well they're going to take it, let alone if they'll believe you.

We created this safe space not just for Us, but also for those willing to understand how Our mind works, as well as to teach those who aren't familiar with Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Once again, this is a safe space, and We take any type of criticism as well as offer help when needed.

First time I remember meeting an Alter was years ago, his name was True Red, for I had named him based on what favorite color He chose. Eventually, He would come to be known as Truth, or T for short.

It had been years since I first had realized He and I shared a space in my head, and for the longest time, I didn't see Him as someone positive in my life, but as someone with influence that only looked out for Himself. The reality of everything truly was that He only watched out for situations in which He would end up at the top of. This selfishness came with consequences always, and most of the time--no, always--it was me who ended up paying for it.

I covered for T in various occasions, for I wanted to minimize the fallout as much as possible. However, it is fair to say that not everything that T did brought on terrible consequences. Some times, there were good outcomes, and sometimes even, He was the one bailing my ass out of sticky situations. Thing is, T isn't a bad guy. He just went about doing things the incorrect way, and for his better knowledge at the time, He thought no incorrect decision was made.

This foolishness was an amalgamation of things, events, and people. Something that you must know about T is that at the very core, he is a Protector.

He will shield you from harm at no cost on his side, even if He is blindly protecting you. He will go out of his way to completely take on whatever damage before any of it lands on you.
That is what He was when I met Him, who He's been while We grew, and who He will remain being for as long as this body keeps going.
Kingdom come or go, T will always be a Protector.

That, I am one hundred percent sure of.

Protector or Persecutor?
Welcome to the Aether,
my lovely suitor.

What is it you seek,
immortality, may I ask you to speak?

Say something, do you wonder, why you are here?
What your role is, dear?

What do you think mine is?
Can I show you this?

But first, you need a color,
let me think,
choices choices,
getting hot under the collar?
Do you hear the other voices?

Picture
Are you real, you may ask,
am I real, want to find out, are you up to the task?

Are you a truth or are you a lie,
let's wear your skin, suit and tie.

I present you here with your role.

Protector or Persecutor?
Persecutor or Protector?
Me, you ask? Why, I'm a collector!

I will start with you,
you seem to be a strong one.

Now let me show you the weakest,
she's a fun one.

I believe the two of you will be inseparable.
That's the difference between you and me.
You're vulnerable.
And me?
I'm inevitable.

Imagine A Puzzle, Shattered Across The Room. You See The Pieces,
So Your Immediate Reaction Is To Put The Puzzle Together, Is It Not?

Well, It Depends. For Me, It Would Bother Me. I Was Told Once I Have A Mild Case Of OCD. Imperfections Bother Me. I Require Order. I Require Everything To Be Neat--Organized. Or I Completely Lose It.

Now Imagine Those Puzzle Pieces Make Up A Whole Personality Of A Person. How Would You Put Those Pieces Together?

Simple. You Don't--Not In The Case Of DID. There Is No Cure For DID.

Sure, There Is Therapy, There Is Medication, There Are Ways To Deal With The Diagnosis, But In The End, If A Person Has DID, Is Because The Mind Suffered A Certain Case Of Abuse To The Point It Split In Order To Protect Itself--And Thus, Alters Are Created.

Or Rather, Alters Appear.

Picture
Now How Would You Describe An Alter?
It Is A Part Of The Fragmentation Of The Original Complete Personality Of One Human Being.

An Alter Is One Puzzle Piece To The Whole Picture.

An Alter Comes From The Whole.

Thus, When Looking At Alters, One Needs To Understand That Despite The Stigma This Mental Health Disorder Has, An Alter Is Not A Completely Different Person.

An Alter Is Part Of That Person.

That Person Just Had Their Mind Fragmented.

Split.

Despite The Use In Media, TV Tropes And Other Such As Movies, Having DID Does Not Mean The Person Diagnosed With It Is Dangerous, But The Truth Behind The Danger Is That Certain Alters Can Be Dangerous For The Host Body.

Alters Can Be Very Different.

As You Will See Below.

Dissociation

DIssociation - Do you ever feel like your head is in the clouds? Do you find yourself forgetting things a lot? But not just things-- events. People, even. Sometimes it feels as if chunks of your memory have been erased, or rather deeply forgotten. Deeply shoved in the most dark corners of your mind. Somewhere unreachable. Somewhere... lost.

This is what dissociation feels like. When no matter how hard you try to remember something--it just doesn't come through to you.

The thing about memory is, that even though you might feel like it's forgotten, it doesn't necessarily mean it's gone forever. It's in there. Somewhere. You just have to find a way to get to it.

A clear sign of DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) is when a person dissociates, and shows evidence of forgetting something extremely. When that person is confronted about a certain event and they deny ever being part of it, it is most likely because of the blockage in their memory preventing them from recalling. Speaking in terms of DID solely, I intend to bring here my understanding of this mental illness to this specific page from the website so as to further explain why I believe DID is real despite many people in the world, including licensed psychologists, say it is just a myth.

Now if you wouldn't mind joining us in this collective study...

...I'll lead the way...

...into my mind.
