Chapter Seventeen: "My Sweetheart"

Where to begin with this one? Well, that poor broken boy still in recovery met this angel through the fantastic world of IMVU, an online meta-verse website in which users created their own avatars to hide who they really were and meet other souls in search of something particular to an actual friendship.

He should have strayed away from this, for it was obvious that going deep into the internet, nothing good could come from it. But he chose to ignore it; ran into user "sweet_dreams" and her interests matched his. Or so he chose to believe.

Can not say that I blame him, however, at first, she seemed very honest--but behind a screen, everyone can be anyone, and sooner than later, the truth comes out and eats you alive.

Picture
The problem here was that he allowed himself to fall for her hard and fast.

Fresh out of a relationship will do that to a person. One will start to want to cling onto the rebound mate, to feel that feeling once more. To avoid the loneliness and sadness of being adrift, lost and to feel forgotten.

What follows is that they start talking more and more until they end up exchanging numbers; despite being states away from each other and the possibility of never meeting face to face, they keep talking, keep sharing secrets and passions and start liking each other more--for the honesty, for the warmth in their voices.

Just listening to her voice on the other end of the line filled his heart, but something was missing.

Picture
The fact that they could not see each other.

What seemed like a perfect teenage dream, one as old as time--somewhat an alternate version of Romeo and Juliet--in which both lovers found each other when they were not supposed to, and chose to feel something for each other when they were not allowed to... This was not meant to be...but rather forced to be.

Secrets started to flourish behind the screens; he became suspicious of the fact that she could not--would not choose to show herself to him. More layers of lies started forming; despite him opening up to her more she kept hiding something from him, but he did not know what.

What was harder? Believing that she did that to you? Or that you did it to yourself? Can you answer me that question?

She hid herself from you! She lied and lied to protect who she really was! Why? Because she did not think you would like her for who she truly was? Because she was self-conscious? Did she remind you of yourself? Is that why you chose to forgive her? Thinking that even after you had told her how you have been played before that she playing you was a simple mistake? Not on purpose? Well now you know why I did what I did. Why I pushed her away, why I told her to leave you be. Why I had to destroy that "relationship!"

A "relationship" that was a pathetic attempt at getting you to fall for her; to feed into her lies, to want to drive over to see her only to what? Be shut down at the idea of meeting? Why would you even think that was a possibility? Because it wasn't. That is what happened.

Because *this* was never meant to happen.

This is what happens when you force something that is not meant to happen.

Chaos reigns.

And all you have from her now is disappointment. Both in her, and yourself.

Think on that next time you want to try to find her to apologize.

You disappoint me.

Chapter Sixteen: "Thin Ice"

Take a second and imagine guilt. How pure and raw it can taste, how precious it feels on the tip of your hands as you trace them down that person's face. That person you know you should probably stray away from, but want not to.

All you can imagine is the closeness, the sweet but sour taste of sin on your lips. The look she gives you when you hold her hair softly, then pull harder, making her lean closer to you.

For a guy that had everything under control, this one sure pushed him out of control rather easy.

Not to say I don't blame him; he was still in recovery, still broken--looking to hold onto the first thing that held an open hand.

Poor broken toy; but this one served as a means to an end. A satisfying taste, even for what little she stayed close to him.

There was a raw element to her; she was a fighter, never backing down from a fight, but always seemed to be picking one. Strong, but also shattered inside. Perhaps that it was because of how young she was compared to him. Young and raw; unsure of what she craved from life, but willing to try anything. And perhaps it was the fact that they had met at a hot spring that sparked that flame inside her. Or perhaps it was raw curiosity that pushed her to ask for his number.

One thing is for sure, he did not care if he felt wrong about it. Something inside him told him that he needed to save her.

He needed to help her; years later, he would come to find out the reason why she was broken. But you can not always fix everything that is broken, sometimes, that stays broken. Not because it can not be put together, but because it continuously keeps shattering.

But we all know how appetizing tragedy can be for a hero; the will to save is always buried beneath, and always pushes forward. Even when the person does not want to be saved.

So try as he may, he kept in touch with her, and as their friendship developed, he started to miss the point; she was playing him. She needed him at times, but at other times all she wanted to do was taste him, tease him, play him.

He was too stupid to see it, but she was not going to last in his life; but he was too focused on trying to save her. To teach her to stray away from wrong-doings. It was a pathetic attempt at a brother/sister relationship even though the fatal attraction was buried underneath both of them.

But sooner than later he would come to find, no matter how many secrets he told her, how much he tried to keep her from getting hurt, he needed to let her go.

However, this tragedy has a twist; he did not need to let her go. One day a switch had flipped inside her; one day, she chose to throw away whatever friendship was there, and simply insulted him, pushed him away, and erased him from her life.

All he could do was look and wonder... what did he do wrong?

But he would never get that question answered.

Chapter Fifteen: "Just Friends, Pt. 3"

Ah, the college life. You get to forget about all your high school drama and start realizing how hard college is going to be and how much lack of sleep you'll get. But the women, well, it gets better.

If you've followed each chapter in an orderly fashion, you'll understand when I mention that party where I got drunk and searched for sugar on the cupboards.

Yes, I met someone else that night. Obviously, I didn't remember because of how hungover I was the next morning, but I will tell you this-- she appeared before me one day at the college.

It was weird having to share a class with your own mother, but that's what I was doing my year of college at CWC. I had taken a Philosophy course and it just so happens that that year, Mother was also taking college courses. So I shared the classroom with her, and unbeknownst to me, that best friend I was telling you about? The one I met through Lady V at that party? Well, he was in that class too. This was the beginning of a great friendship...but before I get carried away, let me explain.

One great thing about that community college...well, it was the community. They were very united, and there was this little room by one of the halls that housed a very specific group of people: the international students. It was a great place for a little get-together; and this is where I officially met her.

At first, it took me a while to realize why she seemed familiar to me. Then I remembered, or at least, fragments of that drunk night came back to me, and I realized I had seen her at the party. We formally introduced one another and sooner than later we started hanging out. She knew Mother because of the International Student Group and the fact that they both spoke Spanish.

We started hanging out and all of a sudden, I realized what a nice, easy-going, honest person she was.

I would help her with her papers, and she would help me with advice on women. It was a great time, and as time flew by, we grew stronger as friends. I graduated and ended up moving to Fort Collins. She hadn't graduated yet but would sometimes visit, and I visited Wyoming back. Our friendship grew, and I was happy for her when I heard news of her getting engaged, and then time flew by again and I was at her wedding.

Then she moved and all of a sudden we seemed to grow apart. Work and studies got us both real busy and we stopped talking as often as we used to.

But once in a while we would wish each other a Merry Christmas or a Happy New Year, or a Happy Birthday. Once in a while she would come and visit again and we would meet in Old Town (back when I was still drinking) and we would hit the bars, have a good time in Fort Collins.

But then she moved even further. And like always, I am never good with long distance. I get too caught up in my own life that I get busy and I forget.

We both then went through hard times, and once in a while we would catch each other in Facebook chat and we would talk about it. We would catch up with one another.

The great thing about these little chats is that despite not talking like we used to, or even seeing each other, the small talks felt like we were still as strong friends as always.

This is why she's still in my life. This is why I know I can reach her out for advice.

This is why she's one of my strongest friends, despite the distance, nothing could tear this friendship apart.

Chapter Fourteen: "Lady V."

Picture
It all started with one simple, common misunderstanding; and it could have taken one simple mouse click to forever erase any chance of this friendship to be created.

Back when Myspace was still around and kind of a big thing, I had logged in one night and had gotten a request from someone. Someone I had no idea who it was, but we got to talking, and all of a sudden, I found myself at an awkward spot.

She had confused me for someone else, she had thought she had reached the right Francisco, but she hadn't.

I had no idea who she was; I could've just said good bye and closed out the chat. I could have walked away. Something told me that I shouldn't. So I kept messaging her and she reached out, she seemed interested, she wanted to know more. She tells me she has seen me before, that I've been cleaning out the recycling bins throughout the college campus. She was right. I was working Maintenance at the college that year, before I started back on classes. Guess we had crossed paths before our online meeting, it had happened, I just had no idea.

Next thing that happens is I find myself being invited to some party; she tells me there's a guy there that she wants me to meet, that we'll get along just fine. Turns out this guy would later become my best friend, and the three of us would be inseparable. The three musketeers of that college.

But of course, that party would not be my first one with her, and for sure, not the last. The most infamous party I ended up going was the one where I got so drunk I was searching the cupboards for sugar, for whatever reason I had at the time. I would hear this story be repeated to me every time I would show up back in that town, visiting Lady V. I would be teased, but at the end of it all, I would always laugh, because knowing that that party in which I barely remember the aftermath, I know deep inside me that I had fun, and it still remains as one of my favorite memories with her, even though I got in trouble with my parents.

Flash forward and we're driving around campus drinking a bottle of vodka jamming to music.

Flash forward and she's cutting my hair, even though I trust no one to do that and am terrified of bad haircuts.

Flash forward and we're at another party and the cops visit her house.

Flash forward and I'm tore up about my present relationship and she's warning me that my now-ex is no good to me, and to no avail, I ignore her.

Flash forward and I'm having a hard time with life and she's in my corner, cheering me up, telling me it will be okay.

Flash forward and we're in the college radio studio as she is recording.

Flash forward and we're at my house, I am tripping out and she is waiting for me outside in her car, hoping that I don't get in trouble with my parents.

Flash forward and she's giving me a gift, a frame in which painting tells a forbidden story, which you can find on this website under "Friendship, Alcohol and Superheroes."

Flash forward and I am playing pool with her, and after some time of her kicking my ass, I am doing the ass-kicking.

Flash forward and I tell her I'm creating a superhero for my comic book in her honor.

Flash forward and she's filming a short movie for class, in which I star and can be found below.

Flash forward and I'm fighting with her, arguing that is, not physical, but the words hurt each other and what it seems like the end of a friendship is right around the corner.

Flash forward and I am moving to Colorado and leaving in bad terms with her. I let my feelings get in the way one more time.

Flash forward and what should of being the end, is like the beginning. A test to how strong our friendship really can be.

Flash forward and she's graduating. Flash forward and she's leaving Wyoming.

Flash forward and we no longer talk like we used to.

Flash forward.... forward... and present.

I visit her in L.A.

Our friendship is stronger than ever. My idea of her as a superhero is now a reality; she is filming it.

Stop. Did you get this far on this page?

Do you remember when we first met?

One simple misunderstanding. And yet here we are.

There is so much more to this chapter, and perhaps one day I'll flesh it out.

Just know that this chapter hasn't ended. It is still growing.

"Boo!"

    Tortured God

I have come to realize that along the endearing journey most people call life, I’ve met (and still am currently meeting) countless numbers of women that have left a huge impact in my life.

Whether it was pure randomness or coincidence, or perhaps fate, that is up for you to decide.

Certain events have occurred and certain consequences had been brought. I am not pointing fingers nor throwing out blame, but most of these Chapters haven't ended well.

Some remain, some have completely left my life. Some are still around and some have yet to resurface.

For every action there is an equal reaction, and when it comes to the women in my life, this is often the case.

I have always had my best intentions in mind, but something that is recurrent is that my emotions tend to cloud my judgement and tend to get in the way of things.

So let me start at the beginning, recollecting memories, thoughts, and remembering dreams of what happened once, what happened next, and what will continue to happen after.

This is the story of The Women in My Life. The Companion blog to this is The Men in My Life, right below this tab.

Without further ado, let me welcome you to my recollection of true events, true people, but most of all, just the plain and simple God-honest, blunt and painful Truth about my Chapters and I.

Do not expect a happy ending to some, however...

    This isn’t a fairy-tale.

    This...is Truth's Chapters.
